About the artwork Dream
Dream is my largest work to date. When the pandemic started, I felt I must make a grandiose painting which could carry tension on many levels. I am inspired by the Old Masters, as well as to the principles of design and geometry. Concurrently, I must always be expressive and listen to my instincts. This artwork simultaneously shows physical movement and calm. I blur hard edges or lose the lines of contour on unexpected areas. The composition is planned and accurate, the figure is aligned on the diagonal of a Phi rectangle (such as in Eugene Uglow’s work), but sometimes my process is totally impulsive. I am painting and drawing in the floor and the charcoal pieces broke into the thick paint. I left them as they were, marks stuck in the surface of the canvas.
