About the artwork Key West

The source material for this painting was taken from a poolside view at a hotel in Key West. The shadows of the large umbrellas above created repeated patterns on the decking. The colours I used remind me very much of the visual experience and feeling of this part of Florida.

About the artist Katherine Lubar

Originally from Dallas, Texas and based in London, Katherine Lubar received a Post-Graduate Diploma from The City & Guilds of London Art School. She has exhibited in the UK and the US and her work is in the collection of The Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas. She was a finalist for the Evening Standard Contemporary Painting Prize in 2017 and shortlisted for the Wells Art Contemporary in 2018 and 2019. In 2020 she received a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.
